Let’s Talk
What is
the rainbow called in your mother tongue? How do you feel when you see a
rainbow in the sky? Express your views to the glass.
Answer:
In my
mother tongue, Kashmiri, the rainbow is called "Sonzal or Ram
Ram Badrin Dhoen or Raaz Raamin Dhoen" which means "the bow of
seven colours or the bow of Ram "
When I
see a rainbow in the sky, I feel amazed and happy. It looks like nature’s own
painting with soft, shining colors spread across the sky. After rain and dark
clouds, a rainbow brings a sense of peace and hope. It reminds me that even
after difficult times, something beautiful can appear. I always feel like
smiling when I see a rainbow. Sometimes, I even try to count the colors or
guess where it begins and ends. A rainbow makes the sky look magical, and for a
moment, I forget everything else and just enjoy its beauty.

Let’s Write
Is there
any story in your mother tongue which is associated with the rainbow? Write
that story in not more than 150 words.
Answer:
The Bow
of Ram – A Kashmiri Folktale
In old
Kashmiri folklore, it is believed that the rainbow, called "Ram Ram
Badrin Dhoen" or "Raaz Raamin Dhoen," is the divine
bow of Lord Ram. According to the tale, after Ram defeated evil forces
and brought peace to the world, he hung his mighty bow in the sky as a sign of
harmony and hope. Whenever there is rain followed by sunlight, the bow appears,
reminding people of the victory of good over evil. Elders would say that if you
see the rainbow and fold your hands with a clean heart, your wishes may come
true. Children would run out to look at the "bow of Ram," believing
it brings luck and blessings. The story teaches us to stay hopeful, even after
dark times, because peace and beauty always follow the storm.
