Short Summary

‘Wonderful Waste’ is a story that tells us how waste is useful to us. In this story, the Maharaja of Travancore, displeased with the idea of wasting vegetable scraps, commanded the cook to find a use for them. In a dilemma, the cook ingeniously turned the scraps into a delicious dish named "avial." He washed, cleaned, and cut the bits into strips, cooking them with a paste of fresh coconut, green chillies, and garlic. The enticing aroma caught everyone's attention. The cook added whipped curd, coconut oil, and curry leaves to complete the dish. "Avial" became a sensation, famous across Kerala and a staple in traditional feasts, all originating from what was once considered waste.
